The Board of Medicine can waive fees and costs for the issuance, renewal, or reinstatement of a license, certificate, registration, or permit for a physician or physician assistant who will practice without compensation and voluntarily.

A. The board may waive the fees and costs established and otherwise collectable by the board for the issuance, renewal, or reinstatement of any license, certificate, registration, or permit that it is authorized to issue to an individual who satisfies all of the following requirements: (1) Attests that his practice shall be limited exclusively to the provision of gratuitous, uncompensated, volunteer health care services in this state. (2) Satisfies all qualifications, requirements, and procedures prescribed by law. (3) Complies with all of the board’s rules for the type of licensure held or applied for. B. A license, certificate, registration, or permit issued under this Section shall bear the designation “volunteer”. A physician or an allied health care provider shall not, acting under the authority of such a license, certificate, registration, or permit, provide health care services in exchange for compensation.
