Workers’ Benefits: American Red Cross Disaster Services Volunteer Leave
When an emergency declaration is in effect, an individual who works as a governmental employee, who is certified as an American Red Cross disaster services volunteer, and whose services are requested by the American Red Cross can leave their place of employment for up to 30 days per year to participate in disaster relief services. They will not lose seniority, vacation and sick time, or pay while volunteering with the American Red Cross.
Emergency service voluntary leave—Paid leave concession
Every Commonwealth agency employee, who is certified as an American Red Cross disaster services volunteer, may absent him/herself from work with paid leave, for a period that shall not exceed thirty (30) calendar days within a twelve (12)-month period, to participate in American Red Cross specialized disaster functions.
