Summary Title

Good Samaritan Law: Dentist

Summary

A licensed dentist who, in good faith, provides emergency care at the scene of an emergency or provides emergency care to a person for a complication arising from care by another licensed dentist will not be held legally responsible for acting or failing to act. Generally, Good Samaritan laws only offer protection for those individuals who provide care during spontaneous emergencies unrelated to volunteer deployment.

(a) No person licensed under this chapter, who in good faith renders emergency care at the scene of an emergency occurring outside the place of that person's practice, or who, upon the request of another person so licensed, renders emergency care to a person for a complication arising from prior care of another person so licensed, shall be liable for any civil damages as a result of any acts or omissions by that person in rendering the emergency care.
